Environmental Services Building – Athens, Georgia
The Environmental Services Building is an 18,000 square foot administration and laboratory building for Athens – Clarke County, Georgia. The facility provides water quality testing and monitoring for the J.G. Beecham Waste Treatment Facility. The building houses a 4,600 square foot modern laboratory. The facility has been certified as LEED Silver status. Mechanical design included complete load calculations, unit selections, distribution design, and pressurization controls. Electrical design included metering, panels, and power distribution. Plumbing design included providing sanitary, water, acid waste, compressed air, central laboratory vacuum, and natural gas for the facility.
GA Power Daycare – Atlanta, Georgia
The Atlanta Daycare Facility is a two story 26,000 square foot childcare facility for Georgia Power employees. The facility was designed to accommodate 150 students and 53 full time employees. The facility is seeking LEED Silver Certification. Several key design issues have been incorporated to assist in the LEED Certification. All mechanical systems have energy recovery pretreating outside air entering the building for ventilation. Evaporative indirect coolers pre-condition the outside air in the summer, spring, and fall utilizing rain water harvested from the roof. Mechanical systems were able to achieve a 30% reduction in operating energy savings thru energy efficient design. The plumbing systems for the building incorporated the latest low flow fixtures for lavatories and water closets. The plumbing system design was able to reduce water usage by 20% over a typical type building design. The facility lighting design was able to reduce the fixture energy consumption by 26% over a typical type building design.
GA Power Daycare – Henry County, Georgia
The Henry County facility is a single story 9,000 square foot childcare facility for Georgia Power employees. The facility was designed to accommodate 74 students and 26 full time employees. The facility is seeking LEED Silver Certification. All design strategies employed for the Atlanta Facility were also utilized for the Henry County Facility.
Ronald McDonald House – Gatewood (At Emory University)
The Ronald McDonald House located near Emory University is a three story facility with accommodations for families while receiving treatments at nearby Egleston Children’s Hospital. The facility also has accommodations for immuno-suppressed patients that have special filtration and finishes to prevent exposure for contagion and infection. The facility is seeking LEED Certification. The mechanical systems for the facility utilize closed loop water source heat pumps to condition the facility. Energy recovery units temper the outside air for ventilation required for the facility.
Serenbe Bake Shop (The Blue Eyed Daisy) – Palmetto, GA
The Serenbe Bake Shop is located in the Serenbe Community in Palmetto, Georgia. In March, 2007, this 1,500 square foot bake shop became the smallest building in the nation to achieve Silver LEED Certification.
Speedway Distribution Center – Facility ‘B’ – Fort Worth, TX
This building is a 670,000 square foot spec. warehouse located in Fort Worth, Texas. IDI, the Developer, is seeking a LEED Certified shell and will writ the leases so as to have future tenants fit-up their spaces to also be LEED certified.
Warehouse – South Brunswick, NJ
This building is a 481,730 square foot spec. warehouse located in South Brunswick, New Jersey. IDI, the Developer, is seeking a LEED Certified shell and will writ the leases so as to have future tenants fit-up their spaces to also be LEED certified.
Trees Atlanta – Atlanta, GA – 2008 AIA Committee on the Environment’s Grand Award Winner
Trees Atlanta, a non-profit organization located in Atlanta, Georgia, purchased an 8,000 square foot warehouse to convert into their new office space. The facility was designed to accommodate 40 employees and an events room to handle educational speaking engagements. The facility has obtained Platinum LEED Certification. Mechanical systems for the facility are closed system ground source heat pumps. An energy recovery unit handles the outside air ventilation required for the large events room. The plumbing design utilized waterless urinals and low flow fixtures to achieve water savings.
